Brazil (offshore). Petrobras-led, including Búzios, Tupi and Mero. Pre-salt is ~75–80% of Brazil's ~3.5+ million bpd output. Brazil is now a top-10 global producer and a major crude exporter to China.

Geopolitical context

Pre-salt made Brazil a swing exporter outside OPEC+ (it joined the OPEC+ Charter of Cooperation in 2025 without production quotas). Its output depends on no chokepoint: cargoes sail directly to China, Europe and the US, making Brazil a strategic hedge for importers exposed to Hormuz.
